1. Are the British immigration laws too lenient? How many of you out there see this country as a laughing stock? A soft touch? Any foreigner can come here to take advantage of a system where they can claim benefits straight away. A benefit system which makes it very difficult for anyone natural to this country to make any sort of claim and indeed is doubling its efforts to clamp down on benefit fraud! And yet individuals and families who have no claim to asylum whatsoever, make no bones about their intention to enter this country – whether legally or not – and exploit the all too soft legislation that forces the British taxpayer to support them. Who coined the phrase ‘asylum seeker’? It’s nothing but another piece of government spin designed to soften our hearts and draw attention away from what these people really are. The vast majority of these people are illegal immigrants! That’s what we used to call them, isn’t it? They come in, hiding away on lorries, planes, and boats and even throw themselves on top of the trains in the Eurotunnel, risking death in an effort to reach the Promised Land where houses, food, money and rights come free and plentiful. The operative word here is hiding. If these people were genuine, surely they could approach our borders and put their claim legally. Couldn’t they? We are a caring, generous and tolerant nation, after all. We always have been. If they were really in peril of their lives, we would offer sanctuary. Always have done. So why the need to sneak and skulk, lie and dodge, gaining entrance through the back door? Look at all the British citizens, those of us who pay taxes to support our own fair country. If we were to break any law, whether it be major or minor, and be caught – the legal system would punish us in some way or another, stating that the law was the law and nobody is above it. Our pleas of being driven to it by necessity, deprivation or even threats to our lives would be, for all intents and purposes, ignored. So why is it that someone from another country can clearly break our laws and then be housed and fed and “Oh! By the way, here’s a pocketful of money to keep you going whilst you’re finding your feet in our wonderful country”! It is totally absurd. These people are not at all bothered that they might be caught because once they are inside our borders they are home free. They won’t be punished. They won’t be sent back. They made it! Countries like France and Germany house their asylum supplicants in old prisons and/or army camps or the like, and supply them with the bare essentials. We on the other hand, give them everything they demand. Some of them are getting more money than we give our own pensioners! One man is suing us because he doesn’t like where we have placed him. And we are paying his legal fees for him. It’s insane! If the stories coming from these people are to be believed, they should be thankful to be alive and safe – period! It is interesting to note that the leaders of the three main political parties have agreed amongst themselves not to discuss the issue of Asylum Seekers. Is this another piece of spin to downplay the situation.

2. Is the British council tax too high? Every year the council tax rises by an unrealistic amount, way above the rate of inflation. All over the country high taxes are being paid for what appears to be very little return on investment, poor services, reduced policing, diminishing quality of schooling to mention a few. Is the council tax just too high for the services that most villages and towns receive.

3. Should blood sports be banned? Blood Sports are cruel, unnecessary suffering is inflicted upon animals for no purpose other than the pleasure it gives an element of sadistic people who claim that it is countryside management, and not just an excuse to derive pleasure form a hunt. Surely there are more humane ways of culling animals if necessary or "managing the countryside".

4. Should Britain go to war with
Iraq? - Poll Closed Should we go to war with Iraq? Are the reasons for going to war with Iraq justifiable, or is it an excuse to claim control of some of the oilfields.
